Complicated communities are everywhere even the places we don’t expect, like in the water which collects in the crevices of oak trees! These tree holes are thriving with protists whose interactions are complicated, nonlinear, and challenging to predict. Our work seeks to utilize this tiny, bustling community as an experimental microcosm to explore generalizable ecological principles.
